Bridal Boudoir | Create the BEST Wedding Gift!
Bridal Boudoir has become increasingly popular over recent years, as more and more Brides-to-Be are choosing to surprise their new spouses with a gorgeous boudoir photo album on their wedding day! (I mean, why not give the person you’re about to spend the rest of your life with a preview of all the sexy, fun times you have to look forward to together, right?!?)
However, planning such an elaborate surprise wedding gift CAN be a little tricky. So, today The Adore Girls are going to give you Our Tips for Creating a Sexy Wedding Gift for Your New Spouse, as well as answer three of the most frequently asked questions we receive regarding bridal boudoir photography.
“On the day of my Bridal Boudoir shoot, how am I going to explain to my fiancé where I’ve been and why I’ve come home with my hair and makeup done?”
Over the years, so many of our clients have had to tell their significant others little white lies in order to pull off creating surprise boudoir gifts, which can sometimes be difficult (but always SO worth it!). Fortunately for you, being a Bride-to-Be gives you a huge advantage in this department, because your fiancé probably expects you to have lots of appointments leading up to your wedding day.
So, on the day of your photo shoot, you could tell your significant other that you’re going to be gone for a few hours because you need to go look at bridesmaids dresses, or have a fitting, or you’re meeting with the florist to discuss bouquets, just to name a few examples. Of course, none of those excuses explain why you would have also had your hair and makeup done, but you can always remove your makeup and throw your hair in a ponytail before you go home after your photo shoot.
Of course, if you’re like the majority of our clients and would rather keep your gorgeous hair and makeup intact, we’ve found that the ULTIMATE believable excuse is to tell your fiancé that you have an appointment at the salon to do a “trial run” of your hair and makeup before the wedding day.
“What should I wear or bring for my Bridal Boudoir session?”
Most of our engaged clients choose to wear bridal lingerie for only one of their sets on the day of their session, but it is entirely up to you how much you want to incorporate a bridal theme into your boudoir photo shoot. Many of our bridal boudoir clients will bring lingerie they received during their wedding showers, or a piece of lingerie they plan to wear on their wedding night. Obviously, the overwhelming majority choose to wear white for their Bridal Boudoir set(s), but we have also had women wear ivory, light blue, pink, etc.
Another very popular option is to add some bridal accessories to your lingerie. For example, you can bring your wedding garter, a floral bouquet, your wedding shoes, a robe or shirt that says “Bride,” or you can even wear a wedding veil. (If you do not yet have a veil, or if you’d simply rather leave your own wedding veil at home, never fear! We have two different lengths of veils available for you to borrow at The Adore Girls’ studio!)
If you do not want your entire boudoir session to be “bridal,” necessarily, but you still want to incorporate your fiancé into the photos, you can always choose to wear a piece of their clothing or bring a small item that represents them in some way (such as their favorite book or coffee mug).
“When and how should I present to my new spouse the Boudoir Album I’ve created as their wedding gift?”
The answer to this question is a matter of personal preference, of course, but we are happy to offer a few suggestions:
On the Wedding Day, Before the Ceremony - It is quite common for couples to exchange their wedding day gifts to each other by sending members of their respective wedding parties to act as couriers (i.e. the Maid of Honor delivers the Bride’s gift for her). This is certainly a fun and flirty option for presenting your new spouse with the boudoir album you’ve created for them, as it is sure to add an extra little twinkle to their eye when they see you walking down the aisle later that day! However, you may want to tell the person who is delivering the album for you to deliver it in a private setting (if you don’t want anyone else to see your photos), and preferably with the wedding photographer in the room so they can capture all the surprised expressions on your significant other’s face when they open it!
On the Wedding Day, After the Ceremony - Some Brides are just so excited to see the look on their spouse’s face when they see their gorgeous photos for the first time that they choose to present the boudoir album to them personally sometime following the ceremony. Again, we highly recommend having your wedding photographer there, as well, to capture this fun and exciting moment between the two of you!
After the Wedding Day, During the Honeymoon - Seeing sexy boudoir photos of the person you love, especially for the very first time, HAS been known to cause a little…ahem…excitement, if you catch our drift? For that reason, you may decide to wait until after all the wedding day festivities have come to an end, when you and your new spouse finally have some alone time, to present them with your boudoir album. After all, what better way to kick off the wedding night or honeymoon?!? ;)
(Below are some photos of spouses seeing their new brides’ boudoir albums for the first time. These photos were not taken by The Adore Girls, but they were generously shared with us by our past clients.)
As you can see, having a Bridal Boudoir session and creating a sexy surprise wedding gift doesn’t have to be a complicated ordeal, as long as you remember to plan ahead and enjoy the process!
